Default GT 500 after market exhaust

Waiting on my 2010 GT500. Haven't heard the sound of the exhaust, although I've been told it very nice. If I want to put an after market exhaust on can anyone give their opinion on what would be the best. Looking for loud but not obnoxious.

I put a set of new Flow Masters on my S197 a few months ago. I also asked the guy for loud but not obnoxious. I just ordered a 2010 GT500 and I think it already has the exhaust that you are looking for. I don't think I will change mine. Part of the whole point of getting the GT500 for me was now I don't have to mod the S197 I have now.

Watch the following videos of the 2010 GT500 and listen to the exhaust. I think for what you are looking for that you will be happy with the stock exhaust. This first vid is the best for hearing the exhaust note.

Congrats on the order

Thanks Docsully. First I should say hello as I am new to the forum. In the past I had a 1973 Mach 1, 1989 GT, and a 1993 5.0 LX. After that I got a corvette. I saw the 2010 GT500 at the New York auto show and new I had to have one. I have seen the youtube videos and agree the stock exhaust might be what I'm looking for.

Hey Pete,

I'm Dan. Welcome to the forum. I'm pretty new myself. We'll have to compare notes when we get these. I think I should have mine in early June. Keeping my fingers crossed.

There is a video on youtube that has like 5 different exhausts on it (in the same video, so you dont have quality change form camera to camera). I used that video and a few opinions to help decide what I wanted. I will have to post the youtube link later, as I am at work now and youtube is blocked.

I did not go with flowmasters, IMHO they are the most mellow (worst sounding to me) aftermarket exhaust you can get for a mustang. I went with the SLP loudmouths. Idle sounds good, cruising there is no droning, and acceleration is wickedly loud. Its close to the sound I was looking for... I need to get rid of the x-pipe and replace with independant pipes (true dual) and go cat-less to get that, but thats besides the point. I am very happy with the loudmouths.

Sounds to me if you dont keep the stock setup, Corsa might be what you are looking for. I found Bassani, JBA, and Borla also to be pretty mellow and quiet.

Here is the link to the thread I posted http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...h-exhaust.html

Hope this helps, just my 2 cents.
