Question SLP Loudmouth Exhaust

Hi everyone,

I did some searching on the forums before posting this. I couldnt find much, so I hope this isn't a repost.

I am trying to achieve a deep/throaty exhaust sound from my 08 GT500. I have done quite a bit of research and listened to many video clips to come up with the SLP Loudmouths as being the loudest and throatiest axle backs on the market. Can anyone attest to this. I don't want to go off of reviews from the manufacturers website as they will only post the good ones.

Also, (hope to get a 2-fer here), How do the SLP X-Pipe combo with the Loudmouths, sound wise? I haven't been able to hear either in person yet.

Thanks, Paul

Smokey88,

The GT500's do come stock with an X-pipe, but the exhaust is pretty pathetic. The SLP X-pipe is meant for a GT as a significant upgrade. I dont know if if would be the same for the GT500 tho.

+1 I have SLP with stock H pipe, sounds great. Stay away from the X pipe unless you want alot of raspyness(not sure if that's a word!) but I've heard it and the X pipe takes away the deep tone.

As a fellow GT500 owner the best thing I could recommend to you is to bolt of your mufflers. Then have any muffler shop bend pipes out in the same way appearance as stock. I had mine off and nothing compares to the sound I had. I had to put them back on because of a few other mods I have planned but I willl definitely take them off.

BTW if you look at the slp muffler it is in essence just a straight through pipe so you would actually be saving a lot of money and getting the same sound.

I went ahead an ordered the SLP LMs on Thursday last week.

On Sunday, I jacked up the car and took off the mufflers. I gave her a start just to hear it. Sounds dronish and mellow at idle but really rips when rev'd.

On Monday I went to a local weekly car show in S. Eastern CT and found a fellow GT500 owner there with the SLP LMs on. I got him to start it, and was not dissappointed at all. I loved the sound! It sounds better at idle than with no exhaust (like I am sitting right now).

Today is tuesday, still no exhaust yet. This was a long holiday weekend tho, so hopefully tomorrow.

All-in-all, I am not dissapointed. It is the cheapest (mass produced) and best sounding exhaust IMHO. I have heard many others, CORSA is the only one that comes close, but they ALL cost more too. I realize that the SLPs resemble straight pipes, but there is some engineering there to change the sound, and they have polished Tips too.

So hopefully, there will be packages on the doorstep after work tomarrow.

Thanks for the input all!

I got the exhaust in yesterday, since its 2am right now, lol. It sounds great, no droning! Only downside is that the supercharger is drowned out

Thanks again for the input!

I believe thats the only + - you have to weigh ur options of louder exhaust or noise from the S/C
