My right foot was in a cast and I could not drive my Voyager.
Sucks about your foot but I wouldn't want to be seen driving a Voyager anyways!

Dont ever use GT500 and automatic in the same sentance.
I was in Italy for 4 years. That allowed me to drive over much of Europe. Lets just say Americans are the laziest people I know (most people with common sense already know this). An automatic car doesnt exist in most, if not all, of Europe; unless you are physically handicapped.
Sticks are just to much fun! You have more control over the vehicle too.
The current GT 500 is not named because of having 500hp, it is a carry-on from the legendary Carroll Shelby and his 67/68 GT 500s. The GT 500s, in the late 60's had 3 engines, the 428ci/355hp (under-rated), the 427ci, and the 390ci/320hp (in some early 68s). The original GT 500s didnt get their name from horsepower either.
GT500 = No stick!
Just my 2 cents.

Well I drive a 89 Dodge Dually diesel truck every single day, except for the days that I drive my Stang. My truck has a stick and it is exhausting to drive. My Mustang had to be an automatic, I even had a guy come up to me at a car show with a supercharged 06 GT and he had buyers remorse he said if he had it to do over he would have bought an auto because their is no lag. That's kind of the idea I was after, because a supercharger is on my list in the future....
As far as a GT500, the thought seems like heresy; but if your going to make like 900hp with it. I would ditch the stick.

Lag because of a stick; I don't think so. The lag is in his supercharger. Was it a turbocharger perhaps?
Hmmm...well...ok... Thanks Gary! Very well said my friend!
Extremely powerful and keep them out of the hands of women huh? Interesting! Well..lets see. My body parts work just fine. Ask my husband. ROFLMAO My GT500 is now Automatic...4R70W built. 800 RWHP on a conservative street tune. These are SAE numbers. NOT standard.
Ford does not make a auto tranny that can handle the power. This is the reason the GT500 comes only in a manual.
I'm a drag racer and that's why the auto went in mine. But I also have my manual that I tear around in as a daily driver. Although I raced mine for quite awhile with the manual in it and I was very consistent you do not get that immediate TQ with a stick like you do a auto.
I would bank on it if I were put up with a manual car with the exact same mods except for the tranny I'm gonna win. Again this is drag racing. For road race or course manual is the way to go.
By the way...a Stang is a muscle car...not a sports car.
Do I have the best? Of course I do. I have the best of both worlds. My auto for drag race and my manual for road. IMO it's the best if it's what YOU like. Who cares what others think? Your opinion should be the one that counts most and only your opinion.
That's my opinion...Fire away cause I'm sure you will.

Well it was a centrifical supercharger, Vortech I believe; its been a couple of years. I think what he meant is just the ability to punch it on the drag strip without the ''lag'' from having to shift.

Both are a forced system. Correct me if I'm wrong; a supercharger is belt driven so no lag wile a turbocharger is exhaust drives so there is a lag.
As for the lag wile shifting it depends on how hard one wants to push the car. Power shifting is like dumping the clutch with every shift.
This argument has been around longer them many of you have been alive. I still maintain given two identical cars except for transmission a stick in the hands of an aggressive experienced driver will win. It is lighter and has less drive train loss.
Well...my children are grown and I don't take anyone in my race car anymore. My son passed away last year at the age of 23 and my daughter and grandson do not ride in it.
Obviously this is personal preference but drive a few miles in rush hour traffic before you share more about the joys of manual transmissions. However my second car, an 05 Mini Cooper S has an auto and paddle shifters. This I believe has the most fun factor of any little car I've ever driven. It takes a properly designed system but F1 cars seem to muddle by somehow with their paddle shifters as well. Maybe they're not serious drivers though (that's sarcasm, I love F1, don't flame me please).

F1 cars have a totally different type of paddle shifter than your mini cooper. Yours has an electronically controlled automatic, like most now days, and has buttons to control the shifting. It is the same as using the stick in the middle but more fun. F1 cars have semi-automatic transmissions (aka. automated manual, clutchless manual) that are basically 2 manual transmissions in one with an 2 electronically actuated clutches. One section has a clutch, 1st, 3rd, and 5th gears. The other contains a clutch, 2nd, 4th, and 6th gears. These are not at all similar to paddle shifted automatics (tiptronic, auto-stick, ect)
I have a bad patella tendon in my left knee. I frequently have such severe pain that i am incapable of walking for hours on end. I chose an auto for this reason. I also have never had someone to teach me to drive stick. I bet i'd have a lot of fun, and always have wanted to learn how to drive one. If i had a second car i might get a manual just to have a different one. But as my DD, auto is for me.
I get made fun of all the time. I personally don't care. its not like i let them drive it. Or like i ask them to comment on my transmission. when i tell people i have an auto its like i am telling them i have a STD
