Default GT500 Clutch/Tranny TSB Issue

Where do I begin this long story. I bought my 07 GT500 used in October 08 with 1800 miles on it. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. My clutch started slipping after 13k miles so I started doing some research and I found the original TSB issued on my clutch/tranny. So I took my car to the dealer to get it all straightened out and they informed me I was out of warranty by 5-7 days (since the original purchase date was 8/06). Then they took my car and did their diagnostics and told me my clutch was slipping. No sh*t sherlock. They also said they would not perform the TSB because my car was out of warranty by a few days and then they priced out a clutch replacement kit for $3k. I told them no way.

First of all that doesn't address the underlying problem in the transmission input shaft. Second, I am not paying $3k for an OEM replacement when I can get a SPEC clutch installed for less. So I called a performance shop and had them order me a SPEC stage 3 clutch. However, back to my story. I talked to the service manager and he offered to get it all done for $2k ($1k off) which wasn't enough. Then I called Ford customer service... and they were about as helpful as Forest Gump in a math contest. Then I called SVT (based on the number GT500Girl posted) and that guy was even more useless. All he said was if you don't think you are being heard call customer service. He knew nothing of the GT500 TSB and the underlying cause of the clutch drag. So I've been round and round with Ford/SVT/The dealership and gotten nowhere. This is entirely frustrating. I have a jacked input shaft and no one is willing to fix it. PLEASE give me some suggestions on how to get this crap fixed.

Default GT500 Clutch/Tranny TSB Issue

I had the same issue with my '08 GT500 about 2 months ago. I had 20k miles on the car and the clutch started slipping. At the time the Service Manager was no help. I called Ford Customer Service...same, no help and I called SVT. Ford quoted me the same cost of $3k to replace the clutch. I said "no way" that I was going to spend $3k after only 20k miles and that they could keep the car (left it at the dealership for 3 weeks. After some research, I found out that the clutch/flywheel combo was not designed for heavy traffic (stop and go). What happens is that under heavy traffic conditions the clutch heats up and in turn heats up the flywheel, which is too thin (the replacement is thicker). The heat causes the flywheel to warp, which causes the clutch to wear prematurely.
I took all of this info including the TBS and the information I received from Ford Racing and talked to the owner of the dealership from where I purchased the car. The next day he told me to come in and he would take care of the clutch/flywheel.
It took me three weeks to finely get this resolved but in the end it worked. If they were not going to fix, I was going to purchase the Spec clutch. GT500girl has this in her car and told me she loves it.

Hope this helps,

It sounds like I should just stick with the SPEC clutch and eat it.

Houston, TX != Good for clutches. I avoid stop and go as much as I can... but I'm not perfect nor even close to it hehe.

Thanks for the reply.
