Curious what ya think is the better ride.
For me it's moot as I hunt for a vert but
overall the PJ seems lighter & like a better
handing car Vs. The GT500 .
IMO for a coupe the PJ
is nicer looking overall than the shelby.
I think it was the last motortrend but one of the latest car magazines had a camparison done. Basically the article concluded for the money the PJ is a better buy for both performance and collectability. If I recall the article correctly the GT 500 was about 4 tenths of a second faster in the 1/4 mile but around willow springs racetrack the PJ was 2 seconds a lap faster. In my opnion the Saleens & Roushes are the best mustangs on the market regardless of horspower rating for the money.
I like the looks of the PJ much better than the GT500. But, I'd prefer the engine from the Shelby.

But only 500 PJ's made. Thats too bad.
I read about the different suspension and i like the added muscle without the SC. i dont know the price, but im sure that will be sick too.

PJs are around $61K with all the destination charges and whatnot... not a bad deal for what you get.
While normally-aspirated to keep the spirit of the original Trans Am car, it's also about 400 pounds lighter than the Shelby and that's a lot of weight if you're trying to go around a corner.
I just looked at a new PJ at my dealer. MSRP is a ridiculous 61k and the color is puke terrible. The shaker hood, hood pins, 19" wheels and special exhaust are nice but ONLY 400hp. The gt500 is a FAR better looking and performing car. And cheaper! even with a dealer gouge!
They are starting to sell the PJ's suspension parts now. The Watts link rear is available for around $1,100. Before I even saw pictures of the PJ's, I had similar plans for my GT in the paint department (now complete). No upper side stripes though. I have a friend that has one and her husband has a new GT 500. He wants the PJ's suspension and will probably add it soon. I am thinking about the PJ's Watts link kit for mine as well. I've already spent nearly $10K on my '05 GT and still no Whipple! lol Ahhh why not......

I just stopped at my local dealer to pick up some swap parts for my Ranger/5.0 project. Salesman said they are only asking $10,000 over sticker for the GT500, dealer 30 miles North asked and got $20,000. Know of a friend with an '03' Cobra who had his supercharger blue-printed and then all dyno tuned to get right around 480HP and has beat up on a couple of GT500's. I went with the Rroush 427R, list under $47,000, and just love it. Like some one said, good bang for the buck!
why not just buy a GT and get the upgrade parts? i mean you put a turbo on a regular Gt and you basically have a GT500. 35000 dollars or 52000? you pick. we all prolyl know what u buy at a dealership is much more expensive than any other place in town.

Not that I'd actually do it, but I was looking into how much it would be to swap the '05 GT tranny with the one for the GT500. If I recall correctly (too lazy to Google for it!) the first and last gears are the same ratio (.68 for 5th in the GT/6th in the GT500) so you can't wind it out any more. They're just a little closer spaced.
hotshot - I used to work right down the road from you in Roseland about two years ago.

I own number 158 and love it. The performance is good enough, driving it is really fun, looks and sounds great. I am hoping this one will hold its' value.

Sure youve basically slapped on a turbo but how far can you push it. Not as far as the GT500 can go. FORGED INTERNALS. Do you know the cost to have your engine converted to forged internals. For about 2000 dollars you could get up to 140 hp on the GT500. That would put you in the 600 hp area safely. You can also slap on a bigger supercharger and get 800hp. A GT requires a ton of work and lacks the warranty in case anything goes wrong.
The benefits of the GT500 clearly beat putting in all the money. Not to mention many of the GT500's are going for msrp at the dealerships nearby. Unless you are like PLStang and can afford both.
