As I mentioned in a previous post, I am in the process of making some mods to my GT500. I am adding a new CAI and blower pulley this Saturday, as well as dyno tuning it after installation.
In prep for that, I decided to go the whole 9 yards (why get a little bit pregnant?) and swap the exhaust as well. I bought a Bassani 3" exhaust system with cats, headers and all. I had it installed by a local peformance shop, and just picked it up last night. For reference, here is what I bought:

Keeping in mind that I am/was making these mods for performance only (not for "sound enhancement, as all of the exhaust companies prhase it), I was more than taken aback by how friggin loud it is inside the car. Standing outside the car, it sounds bad ass. Inside the car, it's like being at a never-ending Motorhead show. I love Lemme and all, but you know what I mean.
Now, I'm no rube here...I've heard Bassani exhaust on other vehicles, and been inside a few 02-04 Cobra's with these systems on them. And I can tell you that my vehicle, at least to me, seems twice as loud, to the point where I can't hear myself think. I mean, this vehicle came with the Shaker 1000 audio system, and I had to crank it to max volume just to propertly hear it over the exhuast.
I guess maybe I'm just getting old, but it's just a bit too much for my ears at this point. My question is, now that I'm in this for almost $5K ($2900 for the system, another $1700 for installation), do I have any options? Is there another Bassani piece, maybe axle back, that would dampen the noise? Or is this a cat thing? Is there any chance to use any of the stock exhaust, perhaps with an adapter, that could do the same thing without sacrificing too much performance?
Any advice would be helpful.
Thx,
Ron
