Are the quarter mile times for the GT500 really high 12s? I've been googling them trying to find a legit site that has something faster but I can't find any. That's pretty sad if they added 111 hp over the terminators and yet they have the same potential in the 1/4.

The GT500 weighs at least 400 lbs. more thats why.

I'm helping my friend with his GT500 and so far we have the EVO stage 2 on it making 500/500 hp/tq. I think there is about 25-30 left in the kit that the dyno and data logging can get out too.
It drives like a raped ape even at 4000 pounds.
I am sure with 3.73 gears it is going to be even funner. This car screams. With drags it must launch real nice. The stock supercar rubber is not too bad when it heats up, surprisingly.

Most around here with someone that can drive will turn 12.50's to that 12.70 mark at around 112 to 115. Mine was a very heavy car. So I went 800 pounds lighter now onto the dark side.

That's why even the standard C6 Vette coupe (with 400HP, now 430HP) can take 'em at the track...the Vette weighs around 3,200lbs and the GT500 is around 3,700lbs...weight to horsepower ratio suffers...plus the GT500 isn't a exactly super aerodynamic...great looks, but not aerodynamic...
The last time I was at the track there was a GT500 that could only manage a best of 13.47. When he turned off the traction control he ran a 14.40. Keep in mind our track is at 2200 ft above sea level.
a GT500 shouldnt EVER see a 13 IMO.. if you know how to drive it.. personally all the ones ive seen ran 12's.. or 11's.. but for a 500hp beast.. 13's is sad.. my car runs in the 13's... its got alot less umph to it too..

MM&FF (Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords) drag tested a stock GT500 and turned 12.25 in the quarter. I remember another Mustang mag did three runs in the 12.30s back-to-back. The mainstream mags (Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Road and Track, etc.) always get slower speeds, but all of them were still in the 12s.
GT500Girl is an AFM poster who runs her (red with white stripes) GT500 at the drags. She has several mods, including suspension, CAI, smaller diameter pully (with idler pulley added) and performance tune. Ask her what her best time is.
