Default Clutch Is Toast

Anyone have problems with their clutch? I have 600 mls. on car and can't put it in reverse unless I shut it off. Hopefully dealer will take care of it. I haven't drove it too hard, shouldn't have happened. New clutch assembly kit is $1800.+

that's awful pricey. What type of clutch do you have? what year model is your car? warranty??

That seems like a ton of money. I do not have the gt 500 but my new spec stage 2 with steel flywheel was no where near that.

I race mine and am on the 3rd clutch. Did they take care of it under warranty? Mine were all covered under warranty. I'm sure I can help you out with that if you didn't get it taken care of.

Hi, I brought it to the dealer & they test drove it & told me it was ok, it's supposed to be tight, like I'm f'ing stupid. I could not get it in reverse unless the motor was off but now it 's working, just doesn't feel the same as it used to.

Ok, I can tell you now it's not right. They stopped production on these cars 3 times because of the clutches. I'm assuming you've had yours for awhile. It was some of the first cars that had this problem. I took mine in when it only had 50 miles on it, and they told me it was fine too..I knew better just like you did. I would take it to another dealer, let them know you all ready know about the problems with the clutches and tell them to contact SVT and please get it taken care of. If they don't help you let me know. I have a direct cell phone number to the SVT Tech that designed these clutches. So I will make sure it gets done for you. We also have another GT500..my husbands and they are also replacing his clutch, tranny and shifter in a couple weeks. Let me know if you need anything.

Hey folks

Do the clutch problems include premature wear? I just had the clutch replaced in my '07 at my cost. Dealer told me that after 12,000 miles I was on my own.

Would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!
Scot

Hmmm...I would call SVT about this. Even at 12,000 miles these clutches had problems. Like I said earlier I am on my 3rd one covered under warranty. I would NOT go back to that dealer but use another. When you call this number below let them know that you know that the tremac 6060 had problems and that production on these cars had to be stopped in production 3 times over this issue in the first 1500 made. Also let SVT know what the dealer told you and that they made you pay for this. Here is their number. Let me know if you need anymore help.
