Tremac 6 speed junk

Apparently...... like my Tremac, they are junk.

I took mine in for warranty and now Ford is saying it will be March of 08 before they have a replacement since they have to come up with something better.

I asked them what I should do for a car until then and they didn't have an answer.

I told them I needed a rental car payed by Ford until my tranny is fixed. They're checking on that.....

Calling Ford is like talking to a brick wall.

First,what happened to the trans?since it is a down vehicle[under warranty I assume]I find it hard to believe that they couldn't pull one off the assembly line or repair the original trans.the dealer has to contact their service rep to make headway on this problem/solution.good luck.

Yeah, what whtstdhrse said.. if its under warranty.. this shouldnt even be a problem.. if it shows you didnt beat on it.. then they should be able to swap one out now, not in MARCH.. thats their problem.. this is why they made warranties.. to avoid crap like this.. btw, you have a shebly?? got any pix yet?

by the way,is the dealer your at your selling dealer or the local dealer?sometimes you won't get the service you deserve from the dealer if you purchased elsewhere.just something to consider.also are they certified

Grinds going into 2nd.
No it's my local dealer. They said they were SVT certified. I was starting to wonder if they were just putting me off so I'd go somewhere else which is why I asked them to supply a rental.

I don't have any pics but that is a good idea to take some.

Does it grind 1st-2nd as well as 3rd-2nd?

I haven't checked yet but that sounds repairable,rather than a replacement.syncronizer&gear.maybe a call back to your selling dealer?

Totally agree it could be fixed.
Sounds like they're having so many issues with it they don't even want to mess with it. Guess that's why they're going to put a totally different type of tranny in as a replacement.

The Tremec TR-6060 is the best 6-speed manual available today. It is standard equipment in the Viper, 'vette Z06, and Shelby GT500. It is better in many ways than the T56 before it. None of the domestic auto manufacturers bother developing their own manual transmissions for high horsepower applications: they all use the Tremec TR-6060.

I have no doubt that you have had trouble with yours, and it does sound like your repairs are not being handled properly by the dealer you contacted. But that means that your transmission is bad - not all TR-6060s. What could they possibly replace it with?

They can replace the 2nd gear and syncro. I used to rebuild trans and rears for a living.
So how can they estamate march for a replacement when they are looking for something better. What could be better. Lenco trans?????
