Dang it's been a long time since I wrote my ideas... what was I thinking??? (I know what I was thinking... I wanted a NASCAR-like interior, lol)..

Since I wrote all that???

The II still has 90% of its interior, and has gained a console, the front seats have been re-covered with "wannabe racing seat" seat covers, and I just finished an engine swap TODAY!!!! (another 2.3... 289 in the works though).

Also have a 2003 Dodge Ram (lightly modded daily driver/tow rig/office/dining room/home away from home/workshop... I call it "The Big Blue Dawg".)

I like your original idea with the entire, but dump the 289 idea.

Drop in a 03 terminator engine! Thank of all the mustang II haters you could crush, and better yet make MM&FF eat their own words by having a II so good they would have to cover it in a article……..

Won't fit without extensive fabrication... and I hate 4.6s from my days working on and selling parts for them. Not to mention a former coworker of mine is on his third one (and the second one was an "improved" 4.6 from a '99 GT) in his '96 GT. I realize the DOHC supercharged 4.6 is an almost completely different animal, but I still wouldn't want one.

Besides it has been done before: http://www.mustangii.net/46l_ii.asp MM&FF probably didn't even give it a second glance, and it's a show-quality car from stem-to-stern.

But if I was going to go to all the trouble to put something that massive in there, I'd go ahead and drop in the 460 from my backyard, 7.5 litres with almost the same external dimensions...

And for the cost of the Terminator engine, I could have a nice little 289 (in the 300-350hp range) a good paint job, and new wheels for it!!!
