okay... I've been known for crazy plans in the past, especially when it comes to my Mustang II... but I've made my decision this time...
1. gut the interior, leaving only the steering column, shifter, and e-brake in place.
2. spray the floor of the car with truck bed-liner spray for a textured, easy to clean, slip-free surface.
3. re-spray all interior pieces in black
4. make a 2-seater, with SN95 buckets in dark grey or black.
5. with the dash out, fabricate entirely new dash from sheet metal, spray it with truck bed-liner spray(for the textured-plastic look and it's durabilty, it won't sunfade) install Autometer speedometer and Fuel Gauge, and Sunpro tach, oil, water, and voltage gauges.
6. Install black rubber Hurst shifter boot
7. replace door panels with black ones (or custom-made ones from sheet metal with truck-bedliner-spray) (hey, I'm obsessed with all the things this stuff can do!)
8. remove stock tailights, french-in some 68 tailights (yeah I got this idea from roadster II... I genuinely liked it, so I think I'm gonna do it!)
9. raise the rear 2" with lift springs from JCWhitney
10. Turbine wheels (may have to get them re-drilled) with BFGoodrich Z-rated rubber at all 4 corners...
What do yall think?

I dig the Turbines, and if I lowered it... I couldn't fit anything bigger than the stock 13s in there (easily)... I'm only lifting the back to give it a better stance and handling...
AND WHAT'S WRONG WITH TURBINES??? I love 'em!

You can lower a II and still use decent sized wheels. If you have the stock brake setup, 15X7s with 3-5/16 backspacing will fit front and rear if you roll the fenderlips up, even if the car is lowered a bit.
I've got that size wheel (Centerline Autodrags) all around with 205/60-15s on the front and 235/60-15s on the back. If you use tires with a smaller aspect ratio (sidewall height compared to sectional width) you could even move up to 16's.
If you don't lower your car, you can definitely fit bigger wheels and tires with a minimum of work. The key is to use wheels with the correct backspacing.
The front of my car is lowered about 2-1/2" using aftermarket springs (a bit too much; I plan to raise it about an inch now). The back is lowered about 1" with some custom-made lowering blocks. See my pics in the Gallery - do a search on 78stangii. In the pics I had not yet lowered the rear of the car but you'll get the idea.
On the rest of your ideas... They are unique. I have been toying with the idea of using the spray-on bedliner material for the trunk area of my II just so I don't have to worrk about chipping/scuffing/scratching paint when I carry things. I don't know about the entire interior.
Aren't you located in TX? I hope you can find some shade to park in. That bedliner material gets hot in the summertime.

Yeah, but most of the bedliner material will be out of direct sunlight, and I really want it for it's durability. I'd go back with stock materials, but I'm going for a complete custom look on my car. Someone else can use those hard-to-find interior pieces I won't need anymore.

Hey Matt,
I just removed the stock seats out of our 95 Mustang. I installed some 01 power leather seats that are real nice. You can have my old seats if you can come and pick them up.

Well if you do do all that stuff to your Mustang II let me know. I am in the market for a set of seats as well as a power steering rack, maybe the A arms and springs
Greg
Heres a pic of a stang II i had (around 1980), did some nice modifications, the bumper was shortened, aftermarket mirrors, the grill custom made, Hella headlights, the fenders to fit wider wheels.
Sounds like a cool project (you know I like modded IIs ) Only worry I would have with the bedliner is the weight..that stuff is heavy! Another option in a similar vein is using either the "trunk paint" (I think duplicolor makes it) or those "fleck stone" paints you see at the hardware store. Both give that neat textured surface and come in a lot of different colors.
Turbines eh? I'm partial to 10 holes myself
Francis "Turbo II"
BTW: Made some pedestals for the rack, my Ghia looks much better...thks!
Hey Matt,
nice to see your still coming up with new idea's. Everything sounds like it'll be cool, although it sounds like it'll be hot on the inside with all the black and metal Turbo's idea of the trunk flex paint might give some color options.....
Anyway, keep at it, let's see some pictures when your done
