Question 1977-1978 Mustang II tranny swap

i would like to know if anyone knows what kind of transmission would bolt up to my 302 for my 78 king cobra i was thinking about a t-5 but there is to much machining to do could anyone help me????

I think you would be really pleased with the T-5. It is a lot more solidly built than the RAD-4 transmission. t is a piece of work to do, but worth the trouble. Allan Klingler

The choices if you dont go to all the work for a T-5 is simple. You have a manual RAD-4 or an automatic C-4. These will bolt right up for the 302. I have a 76 with a T-5 (and have a rad-4 sitting in a corner of my garage) and a 78 with a C-4 soon to go in back of a 351W. Hopefully it will warm up a bit to work on it in comfort. Allan Klingler

Default t-5 swap

if youre king is equipped with a 4 speed simpley remove the transmission from the bellhousing.
Bolt up the t-5 & swap the spline input shaft to youre orignal driveshaft.
PU a mustang II t-5 transmission crossmember & transmission mount a short throw shifter handle.
Done
