1976 Mustang Cobra II project help

I just bought my first mustang, a 1976 Cobra II. Im looking to restore it to street and strip. It has a factory 302 and C4 tranny. Ive never done a restoration before. It runs and drives, I just dont know where to begin! The interior is close to immaclulate. Should I strip the interior to see how the floor pans look? Or should I just start with spicing up the engine? Its crazy, Im all excited to work on it, but I dont know what to do! Any suggestions on getting started?

ok,first off congrats! Now start with the engine make sure its running purfect and when you get ti running the way you want (if you want performance the time would be now)then go to the body work rust floor pans, fenders, body filler ect. prime it up and then get the interior done seats, dash replacement , stereo, headliner ect... then paint. and that will seal the deal for a great looking car.
