Default 1977-1978 Mustang II speedometer

does anyone know if the 77 or 78 came with a stock speedometer that went up to 120 mph? or were they all up to 85?

Lady Cobra,

My '77 2+2 has an 85 MPH speedo in it. I believe a friend's '76 had a 120 MPH speedo however, that was a while back and I could be wrong. I often see the 120 MPH speedo's for sale on Ebay.

The 85mph speedometer was stock in the 2.3 and 2.8 cars, the 120 was an option, the V8 cars all came with the 120 I believe, but I'm not sure, I know mine has one, and my 2.3 car did too (a 76 and a 74 respectively).

I know that the 120 came stock as an option in 76, but I wasnt sure about a 78. The 78 I have has a 120 in it, but I wasnt sure if it was stock, I thought that due to restrictions during that time it was a stock 85. Im really not positive about it though.
