Stang II is correct. If the leak is really bad, bypass it. There is one temporary repair you can try. I had an old Taurus that had a leaky heater core (they all seemed to at some point). Since I live in Ohio, I HAD to have heat, so bypassing it wasn't an option. I used a product called K&W Block Seal. It comes in a copper colored can. You essentially flush out your cooling system and refill it with water, along with this product. I saw the leak seal within minutes of starting the engine (no more vapor on the windshield). You then drain the radiator and block and leave it empty for a period of time after which you refill it with anti-freeze. On my car, the leak never returned. I also had a friend that had a big block Chevy with a cracked block. This product sealed the leak.
I am not a fan of most additives however, this stuff works!
