Sounds like your heater core is shot and leaking. Very common on older cars. You can bypass it at the engine until it's replaced. They run about $ 35.00 new but are kinda tuff to get at. It is under the dashboard just behind the glove box. Mine was bypassed when I got it, since I live in Vegas I don't have much use for heat so I have not replaced it yet, just removed the hoses and bypassed it at the manifold. Since I show more than drive my engine compartment looks much neater without the hoses. Either way don't let it go too long or you will rot out your floorboards.

Stang II is correct. If the leak is really bad, bypass it. There is one temporary repair you can try. I had an old Taurus that had a leaky heater core (they all seemed to at some point). Since I live in Ohio, I HAD to have heat, so bypassing it wasn't an option. I used a product called K&W Block Seal. It comes in a copper colored can. You essentially flush out your cooling system and refill it with water, along with this product. I saw the leak seal within minutes of starting the engine (no more vapor on the windshield). You then drain the radiator and block and leave it empty for a period of time after which you refill it with anti-freeze. On my car, the leak never returned. I also had a friend that had a big block Chevy with a cracked block. This product sealed the leak.

I am not a fan of most additives however, this stuff works!

Have you checked to make sure your cowl wasnt rotted? I had one that I thought was the core replaced it, it still leaked, then I did the windshield, and it still leaked, next I took a pitcher of water and poured it down the cowl vents at the base of the windshield and laid under the dash, and you could see the water leak out of ever where mostly in the corners.
