I just bought a 1976 Mustang Cobra II with a T-Bar, and I want it to be even better (if that's possible) than the day it was built... So I'll need a lot of help and new ideas. Most likely, I'll certainly need some parts, and so I'll aprecciate if you can point me on some providers and artistic perspectives.
hey, congrats on the new ride. i'm a graphic designer and would be willing to doctor images if you wanted to see how your car would look withdifferent parts and mods. gimme a yell some time
1966 Mustang Vert., 200 CID I6, Autolite 1100, Candy Apple Red, black interior with black power top, C4 Auto Trans (was 3 speed manual), Scarebird 4 lug front disc brake conversion, dual MC in process.
1976 Cobra II, 302 CID, C4 auto trans. Blackjack headers, white with blue stripe and blue interior. Restoration and mod in process.
Thanks everyone!! I'm so glad I joined the Forum. jwal I'll certainly appreciate your help. I'll let you know as soon as I have a more specific idea. Right now I'm just wondering about all the things I can do with this baby!!
Well, it's a Mustang II, it's not worth a whole lot monetarily, and they're not really popular with the mainstream crowd, so there's no "wrong" way to build one up.
My '76 is going to be an all-out one-of-a-kind street machine drawing influences from late model Mustangs (EFI system, chrome pony wheels) lowriders (going to keep it harvest gold when I repaint it and have a candy coat sprayed over it, along with keeping the half-top on it and all the factory chrome trim) to race cars (interior is going to be absolutely spartan, it's only going to have carpet so it can be insurable! and the exhaust system is going to exit in front of each rear wheel) and even from the import crowd (it'll have a rear wing (not a huge one, nor one of those cheap flimsy parts-store ones) and I'm planning to hand-form some fiberglass gauge pods and speaker panels for it).
I'm trying to figure out in my mind if I have all the exterior/interior details right, but I have no doubts about what I've got planned for the powertrain.
I've got a freshly machined '87 5.0 roller cam block on my engine stand with a set of forged pistons in the box under it, and I'm planning to run AFR 185 heads, 24lb injectors, BBK SSI-R intake, Dynomax Blackjack headers (out of production, but I snagged a good used set off Ebay about a year ago), BBK throttle body, a recalibrated large MAF sensor, B303 camshaft, 1.6 roller rockers, and a few other goodies for a nice 400-450 horses under the hood. I plan to back it with an Art Carr flexplate, Hughes torque converter, a TCI transmission, with a set of Richmond 3.80 gears in the rear end and a Richmond limited-slip unit.
