Default Where is my fuel pump supposed to be?

I recently purchased a 1974 Ghia with a 2.8lt v6 171 engine. The car is in great shape, very little rust, clean, but needs love, and money. The previous owner did not want to spring for a new fuel pump, so he installed a electric pump. When you turn on the key the gas shoots out of the carburetor and hits the garage ceiling. That helps explain why he had a fire and burnt off all the spark plug wires. My problem is I can't find the fuel pump on the engine block to replace it. I was told it was under the power steering pump, and hard to get at, so I removed the power steering pump. The fuel pump is not there. Where is it. I am not a car machanic, but im not an idiot either. I have replaced fuel pumps on other engines, I know what they look like, but I can not find it. Please help

Well if he put an electric pump on he probably took the mechanical one off and put a plate over the hole where it went. The pump is usually located on the side of the block on the drivers side. Hope that helps.

The stock fuel pump is supposed to be low on the driver's side of the engine, and by low I mean, lift the car up and look up from underneath, at the front of the engine.

The 2.8's fuel pump is a little bit of a pain to swap out, but electric fuel pumps and Motorcraft 2100/2150 carburetors don't mix well, made that mistake myself before.
