I absolutely love the II's, want to find another someday. My biggest problems is that people say they "don't look like a mustang". UMMMM hello???? what the hell is a fox body?? Out of all the mustangs ever made, the fox body resembles the original less than any other. Yet sadly they garner the most attention for people of my generation.

Gotta remember gas got extremely expensive quickly after the embargo in the 70s so the 4 cylinder mustang made sense back then..also Ford sold the crap out of it, so let's remember who's in bankruptcy and who isn't...

Hey everyone, I'm new here but I've gotta weigh in on this. I've had my II since 1992, I was in high school then and won a lot of trophies with it. It was always fun watching people "try" to walk by without looking but you could tell they were impressed. Even better when I beat one of them out of a trophy.

Also, the Mustang was never intended to be 100% "complete" off the showroom floor. The concept behind it was to take what Ford produced and make it do what you wanted it to do. Mustang II fills that role perfectly.

I bought my 77' ghia with a 302 a year back and the 99' I owned could'nt top it. The handeling for a car that old is unbeilevable! and for the car only having 135hp, oh well I've been able to bury my needle, so my cars done close to 130! So all you II haters, go away. The II kept the stallion running when the gas crisis hit in 74'.

Mustang II deserve more respect, they pull FORD out of the gas crisis in the 70's, and there is a fact that most people don't know in 1974 the first Mustang II sold equal or more models than the first Mustang back 1965, our cars conserve the line from 60's the BIG change came in the 80's

I like the MII's plus they have the best suspension(front) of any other mustang. People dont like them because they are based on pinto's. But what Mustang isnt based on another car; I mean the 1st gens are Falcons, 3rd gens are based on Futuras and Fairmonts, 4th are like the previous and the S-197's use the DC2 chassis which is what thje last gen T-Bird and Lincoln LS used And they dont have the ability to use the LS' IRS.

The only part of the II that I do not care for is the bumpers and the government made those manditory. OK the power was lame but that`s what any self respecting gear head will take pride in fixing. The mustangs that should not be considered mustangs were built from 71-73. they look more like a torino and have a blind spot as big as the titanic.

I think that one of the reasons that some people don't like the II, was because there was no v8 option the first year they came out.
( for the record, only 1974 was the only year without v8 in a mustang )
Then came 1975, and the v8 was back, but without the power that people were used to, and only a two barrel carb!
Also had some kind of "smog pump" installed too!

On the plus side however, the side scallops were back, and the weight and wheelbase was reduced.

So.... after you have boosted your HP numbers, and someone puts it down, do what I did,
BLOW THEIR DOORS OFF!!!!
