I was watching a bit of Starman last night. It had been years since I had seen it. The funny thing is I could only remember bits and pieces of it, but did remember there was a 77 Cobra in it. Nobody seems to talk about this one too much.

77 Cobra? Nuff said! That would make a great race car, if took everything Ford originally put in it OUT OF IT!
They were reall slow-pokes.

Every car was a slow-poke then. The Bandit Special had a 400 that did 0-60 in, like 8 seconds.

Concidering the era, the Mustang II was a great car to keep the Mustang alive. Even look at the Camaro's HP ratings for the same period and you will notice they are similiar. The 302's had about 170 HP. Emission standards hit the Big 3 pretty hard and from 1973 through the 80's HP's were down. You will actually see HP ratings drop in '71 but not as big of a drop as in '73. Also during the same time period we were dealing with the Oil embargo, so manufacturers were trying to get MPH not HP from an engine. All the vehicles were scaled down conciderably
There was a white/Blue striped Cobra II driven by Farrah Faucet in Charlies Angels
The Mustang II was actually built on the same chassis as the Pinto

Yep on all accounts.
My neighbor (who was HOT, but was 5 years older than me) had one like Farrah's, named VenomII. IT was a great car, I still see it in T-Town from time to time.
She's still hot, too! Jeez, I was only 12 but she would wash that car in her bikini every Saturday. My uncles would visit on saturdays quite a bit after she bought the car . . . I wonder why?

Yet it's just as fast as the '82 Mustang GT which everyone heralds as "the return of the Muscle Mustang".
Hell, EVERYTHING was slow between 73 and 81, they even had the SLOWEST Vette during that period.
Emmissions crap was the worst of it, My T-bird's into the 14s now, it was a low-16 car when I bought it, and I've only changed carbs and removed/disabled the smog crap.
Ignorance is bliss, especially among the crowd that owns 79+ Mustangs.

If you believe that, then why don't you just try to put a Pinto body on an MII chassis?
There are more than a dozen differences between the chassis used on the Pinto and the II, #1 would be the "toilet seat" that totally changed the car's handling characteristics.

i love when people make the pinto reference. show how misinformed most other mustang owners are. just because you buy a "mustang" it doesnt mean you are a tech wizard. i prefer my MII above all other stangs. the old stangs are dinosaurs and new ones are ricers.
