Once upon a time, long ago, I posted at Stangnet and Mustangs and More. but I've moved up in the world and now moderate here! (not intended as an insult to other sites, just reffering to being a moderator)

Ya, maybe I'll just stay at stangnet. Ah well. Seems you guys aren't very friendly here. I asked some people to join but they stayed at stangnet. There was nothing even wrong with my post and you had to **** with it.
Actually, Glen I edited your post and changed the smiley. I was not trying to be clever but it was done more in an effort to stem off any issues from flowing over to our community, and to avoid potential conflicts and flame wars with other forums. I obviously misread your post and considering the commotion at stangnet, I read it as a possible invitation for others to flame. I obviously misunderstood your intention and overreacted by changing the smiley. Did'nt realize how much it changed your msg until yourself and Dale pointed it out.
Our community and website is still relatively new. As moderators, we are doing our best to ensure our community remains true to it's goal as being a very helpful and friendly community for all mustangers to hangout and enjoy. We work hard to keep it focused on just that, by doing our best to keep things well managed, organized and by actively monitoring and moderating our forums to ensure our "Acceptable Use Policy" is followed for the benefit of all members. Considering we have been online less that 6 monthes, it is still somewhat new to us all.
Glen, you and your Mustang II are most welcome here at AFM. If in future, another issue such as this arises, it would be appreciated that you at least give us the benefit of the doubt by simply asking why something was changed before jumping to conclusions and assuming the worse. Mistakes happen and we are not by no means perfect.
Please appreciate we actively monitor our forums for the benefit of all. All we ask is keep it clean, friendly, follow the rules and most importantly have some Fun!
Thanks for explaining... I posted that because I thought you were trying to instigate something, it was my mistake. Ya, after what happened at Stangnet I didn't know what to expect, but your intentions seem good. Sorry for judging you so quickly.
If it's not too much to ask, I really would like all moderators to add something extra to every message they edit. Something like *edited by 'moderator x'* and a brief explanation why. I moderate 2 forums and that can save a lot of confusing and explaining! hehe.. and anger. Because there was no explanation, I thought you were trying to be a wise guy.
Well Glenn, I don't know if you have gotten around to meet all of our Moderators yet, but we all here are really cool and we don't have problems with anyone.. Im glad you stopped by and checked us out here. I agree with what everyone here said.. These boards are all in text. Text can be misconstrued millions of different ways.. as we all have seen before LoL. As Scott and everyone else on the board will tell you, everyone is welcome here.. we're all here for the same reasons.. cuz Mustangs rule! Enough of my ranting.. im the Smart Aleck, not the long-winded one....

Glen that is an excellent suggestion! It is similar to one we already have in our "Moderators Policy and Procedures Guideline" which states to PM the post owner of any changes. (We decided to use PM's instead of adding moderator comments to the threads because we wanted to minimize off topic content within the thread and keep it focused on the topic.)
Regarding your post, I failed to follow our policy and look at the mess I created! It seemed like such a minor change and quite frankly, with the increase in traffic and posts recently, I took a shortcut
There are some changes we make where we do not notify posting members of. For example: We state to use a meaningful description when starting a new thread. If the Thread Title is not sufficiently descriptive, we will modify it to be more meaningful but leave the original starting post description the same. If someone posts a new thread as "Check this out" or "Exhaust problem" we will most likely modify the thread title to be more meaningful and specific. This maintains the readability of our forums for members and visitors, and usually improves replies to the post. The same applies to a thread using a too many blank lines between paragraphs. We may decide to remove some of them to improve thread readability. This is an example where we might make a change without notification because we are not changing the actual content of the original post. So you see there are cases where we do make changes without notification but yours was not one of them because I actually altered the content of your post. Once again, my mistake.
With regard to your suggestion, I am going to look into providing our moderators with a more effective, easier to use method, similar to what you have outlined but more automated. Currently we use "Moderator Response Templates" to assist us in moderating the forums. While it is a little more effort to use, it is supposed to save time and provide consistant responses. I will look into improving our process.
Thanks for the helpful suggestion and sorry about not notifying you why your post was changed. As you can see, it was more me than a lack of policy on our forums.
Now what to do with this thread since we are way off topic

Thanks for the suggestion Glenn. Let me explain for everyone what does happen today in the current setup which has been inplace from day one. If a moderator edits a post then VBulletin does place a comment in the message stating so. If an Administrator edits one it does not put a message stating so. I will look into this feature and see if that can be changed as I do agree it should but that was a default option that I did not attempt to modify but I will look into it.
Thanks again for the suggestion it has been on my radar scope but just had not gotten to it on my list yet. BTW welcome to the board Glenn.
I am a member at a few other forums.( MustangWorld, Fordpower,Stangnet,MustangHeaven, I've even posted in a Ranger Forum) Anyway, I am new too all of these forums but I am glad I found them all !
