Need Help On Pricing This 78 King Cobra

Hello, I am interested in purchasing this 78 King Cobra that is in my neighborhood and was wondering what one is worth

Its its pretty bad condition seeing it has alot of rust, paint is comming off, and interior is falling apart...

any help on what this is worth would be graet... owner wants a best offer... doesnt have an asking price

We looked at one last week that was on consignment here in Modesto Ca.. It was a collectable and maybe would take 50 hours of work to really dial it in. It was the orange model with the special art work on the hood, butterscotch interior and T-top. the shop was asking $14,000. Very low milage and very tight.

Also i forgot to mention that it has a new engine in it.... well not new but does not have the original... it currently has a 92 5.0l engine

And ooh my lord.... 14k for it? Do you think this one is worth 14k also? I mean it has so much rust, interior is red and needs alot of fixing... some parts are missing from the interior also...

I was wondering what to offer the man but i dont think 14k is in my league =\

Yes I am sure but it was one of 300 made that year and it was a collectable. You wouldn't put it on the road.

Yours is in extremely bad shape. I wouldn't offer more than $2,000 because all you have is a Mustang II with a new engine. I know I'll get flamed for that statement. go look for an 86 GT Drop Top. Get a 99 engine and transmission. You will be much better off unless you are a collector.

Hmm also... is it possible for this king cobra to be a automatic transmission???

i thought they only made 4 speed manual

I think you are looking at a cobra II not a king cobra there are some specific parts incorrect for the king cobra body.Check the build tag on the frt raderator support for the KC code.Any addtional questions feel free to ask.ps i also run a registory for the 78 king cobra musdtang II.Phil

oooh plz do tell me what i am suppose to look for.... i was afraid that might not be a real king cobra....

where is the tag? and where do i type it in to look it up?

Dude: I prepped 2 of them King Cobras in 78, and that Chin Spoiler does not even look original! not enough plastic on the car to be an original King Cobra.

No wheel spats either! Looks like a wann-a-be, and the original Lacy-spoke wheels (Standard equipment in 78) are not there either! Nope too bland to be an original King!

Dude: Here is another key element in spotting an original: There was no brightwork on the King Cobras that I knew of...they all had blackout treatments on the wheelip moldings, drip rails, and grille!
