Default 75-78 cobra

Hey all, I was faced with the question, modify my V6 or not and I decided not to do any work on my 6 and instead try to pick up a 74-77 cobra. I was looking around and I know I don't want a king cobra, Just the cobra with all the components. Just basic detailing needed, new paint job, engine work, restore interior, that kind of stuff. I was wondering what should I look for when I am out there browsing. I know there are a few components that are just there to make it look good and I am all about that. Any help you guys could give would be great.

I dont know the price range, but I would look at E-bay, the recycler, auto trader, and hemmings for the car of your dreams

also, the Cobra II package was first put out in 1976

There definitely was not a Cobra in 1974.

The Cobra in 1975 can kinda sorta be debated, but the cars weren't titled as '75s. They were titled and VIN'd as '76s, but quite possibly released late in 1975. I can see how that could confuse people.

But technically, the Cobra II was not around until 1976.

I guess what made me say that was the recollection of seeing "1975 Cobra II" printed somewhere else other than on the internet.

This "somewhere else" is on a Johnny Lightning diecast car card. Remember the Mustang Classics series a couple years ago? And the Kemp Racer they issued in that series? Well, the Kemp Racer is labeled "1975 COBRA II RACER" on the package. The regular production Cobra II in the same series is labeled "1977 COBRA II" on the package.

Then there's the mis-labeling of the black King Cobra in another series...one of the Gold collections...it's got the King Cobra markings all over it, yet the package calls it a 1977 FORD COBRA II.

Yeah, most of the Mustang IIs, even the Cobras, had 2.3 Litre I4s or 2.8 Litre V6s... Some places around the world had different options on different years, an example would be the lack of a V8 in all 74 Mustang IIs sold in the US, but those sold in Mexico had V8s.

There's invariably one or more for aution there, you'll have to find somebody who's selling that'll work out international currency exchange and shipping though.

I bought one of their re-pop spoilers and stuck it on my 78 CBII. Took a little massaging but it fit real well for a re-pop. I also bought the valance/spoiler intergrated combo too. Haven't installed it yet. My be a while before i do. Just bought it at a bargain price. you know how that goes...

I think I decided that *since the bumpers arent to great in the one Im gonna get* Im gonna make my own.

Then I can be ok and not have to worry about gettin a spoiler. At least thats the plan for now. So well see how it works out.
