Question 1978 Mustang II stand-up hood ornament?

I'm thinking of buying this car. They say it's a 78 Mustang II
Should this stand-up ornament be there? And is it original 78 Mustang? Or what is it?

Thank for the help.

Ralph.

It's a Mustang II (74-78 Mustang) for sure, but from that pic alone I couldn't tell you what year. I've seen Mustang IIs both with and without hood ornaments, couldn't tell you if it is original or not, but it's not a bad looking piece, and if you don't like it, it's not too hard to remove it and have a bodyshop fill the hole(s) it leaves behind (or fill them yourself if you're mechanically inclined enough and like doing your own work.) I can tell you that the pony emblem in the grille is missing the tail, but those emblems aren't that hard to find, as they're all over Ebay at any given moment.

I can tell for sure its atleast a 75 by looking at the front end, the 74s had a deaper grill. You may know what im talking about. I do not see a hood scoop, so i doubt its a king or cobra, judging by what looks like a white vinyl top around the top of the front window, im gonna say a ghia with a full vinyl top.

Thats all i can tell you from what i can see in this pic. Good luck on it though.

It looks like a Mustang II Ghia from the front. If you are not to sure you should right down the VIN# and look it up on this forum. That will tell you exactly what it is. Plus if the price is right I say buy it because if you let it pass you by. You my end up kicking yourself for it.

The 1975 Silver Luxury editions had the "II" symbol with the running horse Hood ornament on them. Never seen one of those.
