Default Heddman Hustler Headers for 1976 Mustang II

Does anyone have any experiance using Heddman headers on their Mustang II?

I have a 1976 Mustang II with a 351w that is used as a drag car. I would like any input you guys might have on this subject.

Joe

Default Headman or Hooker

My family has a 76 also. We are running a stroked and poked 351C. I remember having the problems finding a good set of race headers for the car. Aside from having them custom made it was tough. Hooker has a set that we are currently running that run under the cross-member. The performance is better than any of the "fender" style or "up and over" style headers that we have used over the years. Might be something to look into.

I have the Hedman Elite headers in my 1978 w/ 351-W, and they require an engine plate. Lots of work, but worth it IMO. They run within the frame rails, but are under crossmember, flat collector style. I had resprung the car, but I still had to up my tires to raise the car a bit more for ground clearance. Once I had the 15 inch rims and 215/60 15 (rear) and 205/60 15 (front) on, I am ok as long as I watch for huge dips and bumps in the road.

I have the headmans and would say you probably want a better header for a purpose built race car. They are great for a driver but are pretty small. Hooker and Krooks make a heck of allot better header for racing applications with larger intermediates. Like the other guy said you will find that the passenger header comes seperate and goes under the crossmember to clear the starter and if you start getting air on the launch you will most likley crush the the tube, however, I am not sure how good the Krooks or Hookers will clear on the passenger side... it is real tight.
