Default I Need A Fuel Tank Sending Unit For A 1978 Mustang, Suggestions Where To Find One?

Hi,
I finally got to checking and the fuel sending unit is toast in my 78 coupe. It actually seazed in place and wont move up or down, does any one know where to find a new one. I searched the web and only found replacement floats. Is there another car you can use when you look it up?
Thanks
Anthony

Check with the Ford dealership, but don't hold your breath, even if they can get one the parts guy just might not feel like it, found that one a lot.

Also check Ebay, MustangIIMadman and RicoSwavyDog both part unsavable IIs and sell the parts on Ebay; both sell quality stuff (bought from both of them repeatedly) and are great to deal with.

All else fails, take your old one with you and find a "pick-n-pull" kind of junkyard and look at all the Fords you find, never discount vans and trucks!

I thought I read a couple of years ago that you can send your old one to The Mustang Corral in Edwardsville, Illinois and they can rebuild yours for you.

Also check Mustang II Network - 1974 - 1978 Ford Mustang II - classifieds section. You might find one there as well, or find someone who can help located one for you.

Finally, check out Phil Schmidt's Mustang II Specialty Shop (there is a link to him on Mustang II Network - 1974 - 1978 Ford Mustang II.) If Phil has one, it might be expensive, but since they do not reproduce these (DA Ford didn't release the patent on it), it may be your only option.

Default M-II Sending Unit

Hate to say it but these M-II sending units are a bear to find used, even on ebay. That's why when I saw one with a "buy it now" option, I bought it disregarding the price. What I want to know is if these units are all the same for the 4-6 and 8 bangers. Wish I could help you but as most all II owners know the aftermarket is not as generous to our cars as most. Granted it's getting better but its got a long way to go.
Have a Merry Christmas

Antony,

I just registered after seeing your thread.. I have an extra one here at the house.. I bought it off a guy, but then bought a entire tank with one. It needs to be cleaned up and a new float, but should work fine..send me a PM and we can work out a deal..I am not sure if the 4,6, and 8 had the same sender..this one is for a 6
