Default Put in a dual exhaust, lost all low end, 1977 Mustang Cobra II

I drive mostly in city traffic (Brooklyn). I put in a dual exhaust and seem to have lost all low-end torque. The top end feels nicer, but since I rarely get the car above 50, I'd like to redo it for more low-end.

Should I just put the single back in?

Any thoughts, Any suggestions?

Ah, you've lost the scavenging effect. For a better low end torque, you can either get smaller diameter pipes or put the single back on.

What type dual exhaust? headers? size pipe? what type muffler / mufflers? twin cats? exhaust outlets where?, you might just need to tweek it a bit.

I went stock manifolds(for now) no cats, twin pipes back to a single DynaMax muffler with X pipe (crossover) built in. I still have the 2 bbl (for now) and couldn't be happier. Great sound / power, 18 city 22 hwy, mostly city driving and 87 octane is just fine.

I have that same set-up with 2" pipes. Mine doesn't quite look as graceful as yours. I'm still playing with the timing, but as it is now, I get that flat, ungraceful BLAAAAAAT upon initial gas steppin'.

I think it might be a matter of taste. I'm also starting to think that I made a mistake mounting that thing all the way in the back, but instead should have mounted it before the rear axle and had two upandover pipes lead to the back.

I also don't have the best opinion of the guys who installed it. That's another matter.

Does your sound like this? I don't seem to get that nasty high pitched BLAAAAAAT, just a throaty BRRRRRRRRM.
