Question Modifications and the power they bring to a 2.3.

I love my little 4 banger for it's decent gas mileage. But that 90 horsepower and 115 foot pounds of torque is pretty unappealing.Especially with a C3 behind it and 3.18 rear end gears. I want to hear from people that have actually built these engines and what has greatest effect while still being N/A. I am aiming for around 150 horsepower while still keeping the original carburator. Nearly anything thing else is subject to change. I'd just like to not be left behind in the dust.

Try a cam, header, K&N filter, bigger exhaust(probably has to be mostly custom made), an intake if you can find one for it-I know they make/made a perfomance intake for it bbut you'll porbably have to scrap the little carb that's on there now.

Just read the stickied topics in the 2.3 section. its all about the LIMA 2.3. Aside from an airfilter the best thing to do is change the cam. You can get 400hp out of these things, I'm goin all the way.

The biggest change in drivability and get up and go was taking out the C3 and putting in a T5. Change the rear gearing to 3.55 or better. Carbs made a big difference in top end pulling and header and exhaust helped a little.
