Default Intermittent charging issue

Hi, my friend has a 1976 mustang which is an inline 4, auto and he's having a problem with his car not charging while running, thats what seems to be the problem at least. From what he told me his car will start up and run but when he tries to turn it on again it will not. After he leaves it alone for awhile (one hour or so) it will turn back on. He has a brand new alternator and battery. I checked the wires on the alternator for continuity and they were ok. I dont know if this year mustang has a lot of fusible links but that was the issue with my 89 mustang. Any help on why that would happen would be great.

Also a diagram of the electrical system on it or fusible links too.

It starts when it is cooled off? Sounds like poor connections, timing too high,or starter getting hot,bad selinoid....How does it crank when this happens?

Yea it cranks fine when the car is not messed with and after awhile you crank it up. I thought that it would be the starter myself but I wasn't sure if i should replace it just yet or even the timing.
