Assuming it's the Cobra II I believe it's "Medium Gold Metallic" Code 6V according to the Red book.

I am sorry mustang II not sure if the gold paint was different through them years though

i am trying to stay away from the vinyl on the top stripes

Head to the Paint store and take a peek at Med. Gold Metallic (6V) It might be the one if not then it won't be a color in the Ford Paint scheme. You could try the 1970 Mustang code K, Bright Gold Metallic or 1968's code Y, Sunlit Gold Metallic.
you may have to go in with a sample of the Vinyl so they can come close to it.

Or goto a paint shop and look through their color chips and pick a gold ya like more when i redo my 74 back to Saddle Bronze Metallic Ford CC 5T, im gonna freshen it up a bit then find a Metallic charcoal on the chips to do the stripes.
