Default eletric fan setup

i just put an eletric fan in my car, and i wanted to know where the wires go. one goes to ground, and i have no idea of where the other goes. i put it on the positive side of the battery, but that just results im the battery being drained when the fan isnt needed.

Sounds like your alt is not putting out enough to keep the battery fully charged . The fan should run fine where it is but you may have to get a higher output alt. that put out more amps than the stock one (100 to 120 amp).

Goto a parts store and get a universal temperature switch for the fan, it put a temp sender in the coolant and then u can adjust when the fan comes on, most likely at 200 degrees or so. youll have to chk out the wiring diagrahm that comes with the switch. If ya got more Q shoot me an email at 74stang@gmail.com or if ya got skype shoot me an email with ur ID and ill add ya.

Stang74shelby is right. You will need a temp. switch that can be mounted in your water pump or into your intake. Then it can be ran to a relay or a toggle switch inside of your car. The reason that it is killing your battery is because of something called a parasitic load. Whick simply means that it is draining your battery.
