Default How to fuel tune?

Now I have been thinking about ways to increase horsepower on my little 2.3 and I came up with the idea of. Why not use 93 octane and bump the timing. I know very little about using carbs and tuning them to a certain octane of fuel. Would I need to re jet the carb? Can I just pump in the 93 use a timing light and advance it?

93 octane will do nothing but cost more ,,, to up the 2.3 install a cly head from a turbo T/bird, it has roller cam and flows well, add a set of Ranger 2.3 headers and a 4bbl 500 cfm carb and no you have got more POWER

You want to add BIG power install the 2.3 head and the turbo, I just finished a 95 Ranger pick up, 30 psi of boost E85 fuel, Dnyo 407 rear wheel hp. the little truck is awsome you can do the same

V-8's are cool, but i would hop up the V-6 you got already.... its got a great baseline.... Solid lifter cam. you can still find the 4bbl intake, adn headers for it and if u got friends overseas you can find FI for it and even Turbo setups...I seen one that was dynoed at 460hp at the rear wheels, single turbo 5speed Sierra (Xr4TI)

Your not going to gain any noticable power and spend a lot more in gas. You need more compression to take advantage of the higher octane and make more power. Bigger carb and free flowing exhaust will help some at the sacrifice of some gas mileage.

Well I wasn't planning on just tuning it to 91 or 93 octane and expecting something. I'm doing a few things such as Cam, Intake, Carb, Full Exhaust, and upgraded ignition.

I'd be interested in this too. I have at least a .40 overbore (maybe .60, need to confirm), stock carb (soon to be holley 4160) offy 4 bbl intake, ranger roller cam (will probably be upgraded to boport stg 1.5 cam at some point when I get the money), Headman headder + full 2 1/4 exahust.
The place I'm looking at for the carb says they tune the carb for your specific application. would I be all set for a nasty 4 banger?
