Angry Mustang II rear wheel bearings

Recently I have figured out that my wheel bearing is bad on my Mustang II, after about $100 in rear brake parts i figure this out, but order the parts, pull the axle, come to find out the bearing that was sent to me is the wrong one, so order another one from another parts store, ofcourse has to be ordered, only to find out it was the exact same. Parts store says its right, but doesnt fit and larger then the one that came out of the rear end, so now i am trying to figure out how to find the correct bearing, been all over the place looking, and all the same, all wrong. my car is a 1978 Mustang II 2+2, with the 2.3L 4cyl. i believe it has the 6.75 rearend, diff cover is 8 bolts and comes off the rear of the diff, so i know its not 8", havent been able to find the right bearing, parts stores says the 6.75 and 8" rearends use the same bearing, the one they sent me, but odviously they do not, unless 4 stores have sent the wrong one to me. But anyway, if anyone has encountered this issue and solved it please let me know, I drive my Mustang II daily, and right now its at my work with no axle and borrowing their work truck, cant do that for too long, so definetly looking for the answer. Thank You

It seems you might want to take a look at a junk yard maybe they got what you need and maybe cheaper if you pull it yourself .Sorry don't know about gears hope you will be able to find what you need. I would just find a ahole new rear axle and put it on or strip it for part for your stang Im sure theres got to be something out there

I'll hit the bearing catalog and/or call my Ford parts supplier when I get to work tomorrow and see what I can find out.

You average counter-jockey (especially these days) isn't very car or parts knowledgeable... especially when it comes to Fords. (All the chains, including the one I work for want people who are "salesman" more than they want "car people"... didn't used to be that way).

Sad part is, the vendors aren't very knowledgeable about Fords half the time either, there are several motor mount manufacturers that still list the wrong motor mounts for V8 Mustang IIs, the wrong distributors and sensors for various years of 5.0 Mustang, and don't get me started on Ford truck brake parts listings in catalogs and on computers...

I'll get ya whatever info I can tomorrow night, hit me up with a PM with the part number off one of your old bearings if you can, and I can compare it to the interchange info in either Timken's or BCA's parts interchange catalog if all else fails.
