Question 73/74 Mustang II

I have a 74 Mustang II w/ the 2.3L that I race on a small asphalt oval track here in Oregon. I may have a chance to pick up a 73 Mustang II roller for free (best price!). What parts are interchangeable between the 73 and 74?
Thanks!

There was no 73 Mustang II. What exactly are you trying to say? That you have a rolling 73 body without the engine and tranny.

After talking to a few other folks, I was told that there was no 73 Mustang II. I'm wondering if the guy that has the car is mistaken on the year. I haven't seen it yet. The title of the guy's post is "Free 73 Mustang 2". Here's the posting:

I have a Mustang 2 body That I need to get rid of fast. NO Motor or Transmission. Good start to a Mini Stock.

I was told that 73 was the last year the "big bodied" Mustangs were made. Since the post says it's a good start to a mini stock, it can't be one of the bigger ones.

I think that maybe he did a typeo and just hit the wrong number. But either way its a great fund. I would scoop it up and figure out what to do with it later.

Upon further investigation (thanks Google!) I read that the Mustang II first came out in mid 73, but was marketed as a 74. If it could be setup to race as a mini stock, it has to be the short body. I'm heading over in a couple hours to get it. Can't beat free!

I would go for it. Plus you could always part it out or sell it yourself if you don't like it.

Checked it out today. Getting it tomorrow. Should work out for me. Parts is parts!
I learned from someone a long time ago you can check the numbers on the tail lights and that will give you the year, or at least the year the tail lights fit on. They showed '74.

You can tell a 74 Mustang II quite easily from the rest. The 74 has a wider header panel (between the rad support and bumper) and the gas filler is located below the side body line. Many of the parts do interchange.

That's why I swapped the 74 header panel and hood onto the Rat Snake (black on black T-top King)

Last year only model with first year only parts...the looks and style of the first year with the V8 and body kit of the final year.
