Default Mustang II v8 flexplate size?

In my research i have found that the mustang II 302 had a 148 teeth flexplate at 28 oz.

i have a 1990s 302 so i need a 50oz flexplate. will a 157 tooth, 50oz flexplate fit in the mustang II bellhousing? and what is the bolt pattern for the torque converter for the II? It measures out to be 9 3/8 in., but i can't find any 157 teeth flexplates in that size?

So do i try and find a 148 tooth flexplate and have it rebalanced? (what would that cost?) or use a larger bellhousing that i have? but then i would have to custom fabricate some headers.

I think its Art Carr that makes a replacement II flexplate, with the option of the 28 or 50 oz. balance. I'll confirm that with Tony at the shop tomorrow...

yeah they do have one. they are the only place that i could find that had them. i ended up buying one because the alternatives were more expensive in the end.

Blue Coyote and Matt are correct, Art Carr performance makes and sells the 10" 50oz fexplate. I have bought 4 from them and they are the perfect alternative. If there is a good machine shop near you, they can add the wieght and balance the old 28oz flexplate and possibly save some money.
One small note, try not to use the mini starter with the 10" flexplate, seems that the mini starter and the 10" flexplate have a compatibity issue. I have had to change three of the mini startes on three of my roller engine cars due to hard start ups and longer engagement time. When I put the older bigger II starters in the roller engines the problem was solved.

You're saying that mini starters will not work so would regular 5.0 starters not work as well? If the regular 5.0 starters don't work where can I find one that will?

Matt, from what we could tell the mini starter has a slightly different throw length, you can get a regular size starter for 302 at most parts suppliers. Funny thing is that some of the MII owners that I have talked to on Mustang II.net have had no issue with some mini starters, but some have had the same problems I had .
