Default Mustang II T5 swap your input needed

Your response is appreciated!!!

Currently I am doing a T5 swap in my 76 Cobra. I purchased a Quicktime 6053 bell housing which is very nice and the absolute best option for the swap. There is only 1 snag, the pivot bolt is in the same position as a Mustang II bell housing requiring a 75-78 fork which I dont have.
I am working with Ross of Quicktime to use a FOX body fork which is easy to find. The question to all of you.. If you were doing a T5 swap in you Mustang II would you want to use a II fork or a FOX fork.
I will be taking some measurements to see if there is any interference using a FOX fork and relaying your input and photos back to Quicktime.

Thanks in advance

Steve

you mentioned in your other post about shifter location does this bellhousing put the shifter kinda close to the stock location or does it move it forward.

by the way im glad i got a 4 speed car already it sounds like.
wheather i will use a II or a fox fork will definatly depend on strength plan on supercharging my car so when you see your option let me know which you think will take more abuse

Yes it will move foreward it is the same depth as a FOX bell but the fork comes out low to clear exhaust. But I think using a II fork is foolish the more I think about it because if you dont have one or need a replacement you will be out of luck. THe FOX fork is available everywhere.

Yes, the 6053 bellhousing is 1" shorter than the stock II four speed housing. That addresses one issue. What drive shaft, shifter, trans cutout and crossmember modifications would be required? Would it work with the stock console? It sounds like a great mod, but also sounds like a $1000+ conversion when you include a decent T5.

It would be great if someone that has done this conversion using the 6053 bellhousing could fill in the gaps.

rotorr22 you might want to lookat the first post I am doing the swap. Have a drive shaft made locally, cut a hole for the shifter 2 to 2.5 inches forward, lengthen the crossmember mounts rearward, move the console mounts forward-no problem
