Default Mustang II Engine the Same?

Are the 2.8s from later model Rangers and BroncoIIs the same as the original 2.8L from a 74 Mustang II?If they are not the same, would 2.8 from a Ranger/Bronco fit and hook up without much complications?

I ask after seeing a post from another forum(not related to Mustang ii's) where the OPer had used a 2.8L V6 from a MustangII in his hotrod project. OPer was asking for advice on what performance options were available. This lead to another poster linking to the following website:

http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...rformance.html

I dont know of hardly any performance option available for the Mustang II 2.8L so naturally I checked out the page which surprisingly shows quite a few options available for the Ranger/Bronco 2.8L
I am under the impression that they are indeed the same engine, or essentially the same.So wouldnt performance products work with the Mustang II 2.8?

Thoughts and comments on my theory or your own input on how you perceive the knowledge is greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Glad I didn't start typing out a long post again

You probably already know that the 74 heads are slightly better than the 75-79 (yes, the 2.8 was available in the first year foxbody) and the late 82-86 heads as far as how much you can port them...
