Welcome to AFM!!

If the intake is off look in the lifter valley and if it is a 302, "302" will be cast into the block. The casting numbers and date code are found just above the starter on the right hand side of the block

My tach on my II didnt work at first either so i started tracing back the wiring and found that my tach wire at the ign coil wasnt tight so it created a loop in the tach try checking that!
