Default 4 barrel carb on 2.3

I came across a thread here that you can use a 4 barrel carb using the stock intake manifold of a 2.3, can someone please give further clarification on this?

I couldn't find the thread again....

yes you can use a 4 barrel carb on a 2.3 with an a adapter plate but to tell you the truth, unless you have a built motor you won't need the extra fuel.

Yeah, you'll need a Mr. Gasket 2-to-4 barrel adapter plate.

You'll also need to remove the EGR plate from your factory intake, and you'll need to fabricate you own throttle cable bracket or modify one to work (I modified a Mr. Gasket universal throttle cable bracket myself).

All in all, it's not really a worthwhile swap unless you've got a SERIOUSLY built 2.3 sitting under the hood, and even then, you're better off with either the Offenhauser 4-bbl intake or with an EFI lower from an 80s 2.3 with an adapter plate from Racer Walsh.

I run a 4 bbl on my 2.3. In my opinion, it would be best to get the offy 4 bbl intake, as an adapter plate will have your air cleaner knocking on your hood. I ruined a new hood insulator pad and wore through my paint that way. I like how loud it gets when I put my foot into it, and the way it pulls when it kicks in. It also sure is fun going to car shows and having everyone go "wow, a 4 bbl on a 4 cylinder!!!!" though.
