Im pretty sure that 302 is running hot because the coolant is not flowing through the block very good, if at all, what is the best way i could go about pressurizing it?

I would take it and have the system pressured at a professionals. They are going to have the right chemicals and equipment so nothing and no one is hurt. Also start with simple things like water pump thermostat but on the other side our old cars could always use a clean out hope you get it fixed.

i have new water pump and thermostat, but i live way too far away from civilization to be able to get the car to "professionals" sooo...

it was when i replaced them that i took note of the incredibly nasty block's insides.
