I don't have any experience with putting a turbo in a mustang....but I do know a good bit about turbos. Here is what you would need (partal list)
You would need a turbo, water and/or oil lines for the turbo (you have to find somewhere to tap in also), exhaust manifold (probably custom), downpipe (probably custom), intercooler piping (both lower and upper), BOV (blow off valve), intercooler. Now as far as the intake, I'm not sure. You would need some way to feed the turbo (you might have to rig something up to route the intake to the turbo.
Now, as far as hooking up a turbo to a carborated engine (I am guessing it's carborated), I don't know if it can be done??? So IF you get all of the parts and IF you get everything hooked up properly, you might be able to push 5 - 6psi into you motor. But then you risk exceeding the limits of the stock internals and the drivetrain. I would advise against trying anything like that. Turboing an NA is always a lot of work and very expensive. You would have to sit down and look at the motor and look at different turbos. All turbos have different flanges for the hot and cold side. So you would have to find one that would match all of the piping that you would have to have custom bent! |
