Default 302 EFI to Carb Conversion

I have a '78 cobra and here is my situation. I replaced the worn out stock 302 with a 255 (it was free) that has a high lobe cam. I am having trouble getting to idle and my buddy told me he just got in a 302 fuel injected. He said he would swap me but what i want to do is put the stock carb intake on this block. Is this possible or would i be better off trying a 4 bbl on the 255 or the 302?

The 302 will be fine with a carb and intake . You need to know what year the 302 is and also if it is an ho or non ho .
