thanks twister i email to see www.martiauto.com they list carb tags, buck tags engine axle and warranty cards as well just hope they have it for the 74-78 seems they always take a backseat for restoration parts.
Hello, I am new here. I have been searching the web for somewhere to find a vehicle history on my 1974 Mustang II. Carfax and some of the others require a 17 digit vin number. I am looking for a site that can search for vehicles before 1981 with the 11 digit vins.
Is there not a designation in the VIN for the Cobra II
package. If not, how can one be sure he has an original
Cobra II. Thanks in advance for the help.
There is a tag located on the car known as the "buck" tag, you'll need to have the info necessary to decode it. Some cars have them in the doorjamb, some have them under the radiator support (mostly San Jose cars, some San Jose cars don't have one at ALL.)

RJS 11-gallon fuel cell, C4 tranny, chrome 16" pony wheels, fuzzy dice, brown vinyl half-top, and painted in the tackiest color ever (harvest gold, that's why I call it "The Goldenrod").
Also have a 2003 Dodge Ram (lightly modded daily driver/tow rig/office/dining room/home away from home/workshop... I call it "The Big Blue Dawg".)
The first four digits do confirm it as a 1974 Mustang II Ghia built in San Jose (Funny, always assumed mine was probably a Dearborn car since it was originally sold up north and had so much rust!) with the 2.3. But unless Ford built 2 million '74 Mustangs (which I know they didn't) my VIN is wrong somehow, but I took it right off the tag, and my title and insurance card confirm it.

Im looking for the same thing...does anyone know how to look up a 11 digit VIN and see if the Mustang is titled and if so what state?
My Dad just passed away two weeks ago and I found his old 1965 Mustang title and I am curious if the car hasnt been crushed where it is. If its still around I would be interested in tracking it down to purchase it.
If anyone knows how to run a 1965 VIN or can do it for me PLEASE let me know!!
