Anyone fit a main stud girdle in thier stock pan. I doubt it. Got a 347 I am building for a striped down 78 II. Need info from anyone who fit one .

The guy who put my internals together for my 347 ended up grinding down the sides of the stud girdle that sit in the rear part of the pan and then proceeded to take a ball peen hammer and massage the rear portion of the pan. I asked him if it was going to weaken the girdle at all and of course he said yes but better a slightly weakend girdle than none at all. By the way it fit fine..........

I've got a 83 5.0 with a girdle and I had to grind it down a little too. I don't think I took enough off to weaken it enough to worry about it though. I think I had to take more off to fit the oil pump in.
