Unhappy '83 v-8 and need for matching tranny?

I have read all the similar posts, and I think I am in a pickle, and am looking for the cheapest way out. Got carburetted 302 from 83 Merc Capri, but in order to do this I had to swap the V-6 and matching tranny (from the 76 Cobra) with the yard. The yard gave me a matching tranny from the capri.

Obvious stuff: I got the proper engine mounts, working on getting the right oil pan.

Now I got a flex plate and flywheel from a Stang II V-8 owner, and now the obvious thing is that it doesnt match the tranny from the Capri.

Did my V-6 tranny fit the V-8? How deep am I in for? Can I make the big ugly thing fit in my Cobra?

Which tranny are you using ('83 Capri had several trannies available)

Also, don't use a Mustang II flywheel/flexplate with the '83 302 unless you're going to have the flywheel/flexplate rebalanced. The Mustang II, like all 1981 and prior 302s, used a 28 oz. imbalance flywheel/flexplate, where as the 1982 and newer 302s used a 50 oz. imbalance. Using the wrong flywheel/flexplate will cause severe damage to the bottom end of the engine (along with a lot of vibration and knocking!)
