i saw on mustang ii org that the firing order was 142536 clockwise and i looked on my distributer and my firing order was not like this.so i thaught maybe this was why my car ran like crap.well i changed it to 142536 set the #1 piston to tdc and it will not fire.anyone no what the firing order could be? im in desperate need of it as i am moving and need to start the car and drive it to the new house

First of all, the timing shouuld not be tdc. I just did the timing on my car, same year and engine, not 1 week ago. You should adjust your timing while your car is ideling at 700rpm. Curb idle is 850rpm, so you'll have to tone it down a little. Next, you should be sparking 6 deg. btdc (before top dead center). That could be why your car is running like poo. If when you turn your car off, it shakes, that is because you have pitons that are finishing their strkes, so it fires a little more. This would have a huge impacte on how it runs.

Do you have a manual? Should show the firing order. I'll check mine for info (it's not currently running so I haven't given it a tune up yet.)
