Hiya and welcome. Glad you joined us.
Post up a picture of the wheels and someone might be able to tell you if it's a factory wheel or not.

Same hp as the original... what? The 77 II? I can say the 77 II had a 302 2 barrel engine with 139 hp. The 84 had 2 different 302's, a standard 302 with EFI that put out 165 hp. The 302 H.O. had a 4 barrel and put out 175 hp. Is that what you needed to know?

Sounds like you definately have an upgrade already. And those wheels are the 1979-1984 Ford TRX wheels, probably from the same 1984 the engine came from. Those are 15.35 inch (390mm) and are kinda hard to find tires to fit since they're metric.

Those TRX wheels are really sweet looking, but they are hard and expensive to get tires for as they usually end up having to be shipped from Europe.

All stock Mustang II wheels were 13" diameter wheels, but upgrading isn't that hard either via a 5-lug conversion (to really open up wheel selection), using fox-body wheels (sometimes needing spacers and longer studs) or going with the nicer Mustang II wheels out there (King Cobra and slotted aluminum Cobra wheels are extremely popular upgrades and pop up on Ebay frequently enough for prices to be fair.)

Default Tires for my 1976 II

Hi everyone,
I have been looking for a set of tires for my II. I have the original sloted polished alluminium 13" and I do not want to convert at this time. This originaly came with the 'Firestone 500s' that were recalled due to separation isues, which I did have happen, and they replaced them whith 721's which separated too. So I am still reluctant to ever buy Firestones. I have a set of Goodyear p195 13 eagle st radials that are about 20 years old that I really liked. They were fiberglass radials that were a little softer ride but they are weather checked enough that I don't trust them anymore. I am having a heck of a time finding the 195 or 205 raised white letters for these rims. It is just a stallion not a cobra so I have a hard time putting tires that say 'cobra' on them. I know I am kinda picky and I may have to give it up someday if I ever want to drive it again. (Did not drive it last year due to the bad tires) Any ideas on finding tires for this? Last time I checked at Bell tire and 4 or 5 other places most of the tire companys are discontinuing 13" raised white letter and most of their 13 inch lines. Thanks for the help!

The Tire Rack - Your performance experts for tires and wheels is a good place to check out. I ended up getting the Cooper Cobras for mine. You're right though, it's tough to find anything with width for the 13 in rims. I don't want to change mine either.

Thanks!
I have a set of 13" 185 78's black wall on 4 bolt stock steel rims that I was going to use when in storage during the winter that are in good shape. I could use them if i wanted to but I think I will wait and see if I can find some nos goodyear st radials or something raised white letters. Hey how about picts of your II?
