Question 1977 Mustang II Cobra II Fuel Lines from the Gas Tank

Hello. I am getting my 1977 Mustang II Cobra II running after 17 years of sitting. The gas tank was junk, but fortunately I had a spare. It was a long time ago when I removed the gas tank. There are two lines leading from the tank. The larger one is for the fuel feed to the punp. Where do I connect the second line (smaller one)? I no longer have the original filler neck. Also, what do I connect the vent tube on the top of the tank too? Any help would be appriciated as the county said make it run or get rid of it. I refuse to get rid of it as I really love the looks of the car. Thank you.

Hi russmanlive
Ok, I will try to help you give me the exact characteristics of your engine, I must be able to find you a plan of the gasoline circuit.

Do you think that with a plan of this circuit you will be able to find yourself there ?

I'm waiting for your answer

Hey there -

I'm in the middle of doing the gas tank on my 77 Cobra II V8. Do you have the Aux tank?

I do and there are two vent type things that hook up to the top of the aux tank. One goes to the top of the main tank. The other goes to a metal line which eventually ends up at a 'carbon canister' somewhere towards the front of the car.

Maybe you don't have the Aux tank. If not the valve assembly that sits on the top of the tank is the one that ends up at the carbon canister. In both cases a rubber tube goes from the valve to the metal tubing.

You can find the plastic vent valves and their grommets in the aftermarket parts world. Try SSC Enterprises - Your Source for Mustang II Restoration Parts or call Phils Minn Mustang II (334.298.3038) -- I bought the main and aux tank kits from him which included the tube link between the two.

If you go on SSCenterprises.net you can see all the common parts. The tubing can be sourced anywhere -- just make sure it's rated for gas.

If you open up your Haynes manual there's a complete diagram of all this on pages 74-75. I'm sure you could fake the filler tube rubber boot.
