Well after a week of unusually high temperatures we again have snow in New England.
The week before last saw negative numbers. Then we had 40-60* for almost a week.
My snow blower died the year before last and I spent last winter shoveling. I didn't mind too much though since we had a very mild winter. This winter however has been quite different.
We broke snow totals for December for all of recorded history here. And I shoveled by hand, having some snowbanks being 8 foot tall. Needless to say I was not enjoying winter. And I normally LOVE it. I love the snow banks and the white all over. My home becomes like a fortress. LOL
But making that fortress by hand is a pain. More so out by the road where you get 10-15 feet of road snow to deal with,
Well, I was able to get a new snow blower on Friday! I cleared out the entire driveway on Saturday with it. I only cleared half of it by hand since it was so big. But now we have our long driveway and full turn-around area back.
Thankfully I got it done Saturday because on Sunday I went out to check some things and all the snowbanks and even just snow on the ground had turned to concrete. I could walk EVERYWHERE on no less than 2 feet of solid snow. There would have been no way to clear the snow with it like that. I had to muscle the blower a lot as it was on Saturday.
The warm days and the cold nights really compacted and solidified things.
Well... today is the first snow storm since the new machine. And I am LOVING it! I will probably get out and do my first clearing sometime around noon. I love the fresh white snow and the way it makes everything sound "soft" (like when cars go by).
My wife hates the snow, but she never has any problems with it since our truck is great in the snow.
Sorry for my rattling off, but I almost feel like a kid when I have a working snowblower. LOL

Lucky you! I would love a little more snow here. Lord knows we can use it!! I love how beautiful it is. I know if you have it all the time you get sick of it, but we don't so I get to soak it up whenever we get some!!

The TV and Radio kept saying that we may get up to a foot by the time it all stops this evening. I think they are a bit off.... I already had just under a foot so far and it is still coming down.
I have cleared it all once now and will do so again later this evening. I will probably do some end of the driveway cleanup several more times though since that is where the plows toss the road snow. But the rest will have one more major cleanup.

Kinda sucks I was hoping to have a mild winter so I could take my car out . For all of you in the warmer climates rain aint so bad . Out here salt and sand ruin your headlights , paint ,and rust the $hit out of your car not cool
That's the bad deal with snow, no driving the stang!! I won't drive in the rain here either. I drive her only sometimes on the weekends now. She's 21 months and I still only have about 14,000 miles on her!
If we had snow it would be less LOL

We haven't had a good snow here in a while. I do miss the quiet peacefulness of freshly fallen snow. I don't miss the ice and slush that follows. When we get snow here in southern Virginia, it usually only lasts a couple of days and it's gone. Of course, summers can be kinda brutal. One thing about living up North; if it gets cold you can always put on another sweater. When it gets hot here, there's only so much you can take off before you get arrested.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
I'm in Keene NH and this storm blew over easy with only about 5 inches compared to the 12 we were suppost to get. Not a big fan especially driving for a living in it. Good time to work on the stang in the garage.
I got about 8-9" here where I am in Litchfield county. There were flurries coming down again and sticking to my car in Torrington just before 5pm today when I left work. Won't amount to anything but I was surprised to see them again.
If we keep having these freeze/thaw cycles you'll be seeing alot of potholes and other damage. I already drove over a section of road today that was all rippled like a wash board. I'll be sending my Toyota in for a 4 wheel alignment and rebalance in April or so, some of the roads are bad!
