Yeah, it may be wise to go with the 35% "wckdsexi".

I know it's not what you want to hear, but better then a few of the remarks from a particular a$$hat on this thread.

i hate to knock on anyone on this forum, but getting less dark tint put on your car is stupid. Its just as illegal as the darker tint! Your gonna get the same fine! It doesn't look as good! What is the point? Many will claim that "Your less likely to get pulled over..." BULL!!! Those cops have nothing better to do. Why do you think they pulled you over in the first place. Because your car is faster than their cruiser and they can punish you for it. Do you honestly think the enemy is gonna say to him self, "wow! what a nice person they must be, getting the 35% instead of the 5%. i wont ticket them." NO WAY! lol, thats insane. I know plenty of people whose tint is lighter than mine, have had it for less time, and have already gotten more tickets. Furthermore, i would never take it off! If you had it done by professionals it had to run you around $200, which is more than the $180 ticket. Besides, FIGHT IT! Always fight the ticket! tint laws are so unbelievably vague in all states that no real judge is gonna hold the charges against you. Sure the local District Justice might, but i know more about the law than those bums do! Appeal and go to real court. Best of all is that by spending a few hours out of your day at the DMV and then making a very brief stop at the eye doctors office you can actually make you tint LEGAL with an exemption form! YES that right LEGAL TINT! light sensitivity is just like any other dissability. Midgets get extended foot pedals, dont they??? Old people get to park in handicapped space, ont they??? I get window tint for my "sensitive" eyes. And any hippy out there who says, "wow, all that to get your illegal tint..." or "why not just be legal" just doesn't love their cars the same way that true enthusiasts like ourselves do. And IT IS LEGAL!!! ...with an exemption. So go out there, tint your beautiful cobra till you cant see out the windows anymore, because it looks sick and its worth it! I hope i helped get you in the right direction. If you have any questions about anything ive previously mentioned please ask! and please let me know what you decide to do.

Not sure with what logic you wrote that post with but I've never been pulled over for window tint and even if I have been I wouldn't be bitching about it on the forum as well. I am also doubtful on what you're talking about real enthusiasts here like if you're wanting to compare mods or something of the sort ?

I can understand the reasoning against dark tint on the side windows, BUT the laws are NOT fairly administered.

Here in Illinois dark tint is illegal, but there are hundreds of cars with limo tint on the front side windows driving around with impunity.

Walk around Wal-Mart or a shopping center and take pics of all the 'illegal' cars and trucks complete with plate numbers and use them for a defense.

Illinois is bracketed by Indiana and Missouri. BOTH have no laws regarding window tint.

If law enforcement's reasoning holds true, why then do they not stop these cars at will because in their eyes people in the cars are engaged in illegal activity.

Instead law enforcement uses this and other laws to harass.

listen hippy, your arguing with the wrong dude on this one. few people on gods green earth know more about the parameters of window glazing laws than i do. Everything thing i have said in this thread is based on plenty of experience, research, and bonified fact. If you dont want to tint your car then dont do it! But a lot of people do and im only trying to steer them in the right diection. Never once did i suggest anyone break any laws. All ive done is provide my fellow, YES "enthuisiats", with information. If you dont appreciate the info then you can take your prudish, hippy, and uneducated opinions elsewhere. There is NOTHING illegal about tinting your vehicle so long as you take the proper steps in doing it. Good talk.

I agree if you don't want to tint your car don't do it and if you do, do it as you please. Mine IS tinted! Others tint theirs past the legal limit. Just don't don't whine and moan about the repurcussions on a forum. Its the internet, you don't like it than don't use it. I also don't like arguing over the internet. I'm only stating facts about the general laws of most states and if you disagree than I'm sorry, tough.

its not a permission slip, lol. reminds me of those days in high school when i wouldnt show up till noon.... Anyways, all the info i have is pertaining to the state of PA. In PA you can go to the DMV's website and print off an application for a legal form of exemption. This is just a form to be filled out by both you(for the vehiles info) and your doctor(to clarify your "medical condition"). Once completed you take the form to the DMV and if you did everything right you will get an exemption from the tint laws. Its just like getting a handicapped plate or plackard. They're disability is that they cant walk very well, so they get better parking. Your disability is that you are sensitive to the sun, so you should get sun screening. Remember, its to help with your "disability", not a luxury! Im sure you dont live in PA, so best bet is to just contact the DMV where you live and egt info. First, ask what the laws are pertaining to sun screening(mainly what the legal limit is). Most info can be found on their websites. Then, its not a bad idea to go to your loacl police station and have them put a light meter on you windows. Just go in and explain your situation. Tell then that u bought the car used and you "need", not "like", the tint that is on it because of your "disability" and that you would like to know exactly how dark it is. Once you get a number ask what you steps you should take to be able to legally keep the tint. I already knew all this info when i went to the station, but thats not the point here. The point is to demonstarte to the local cops that you are an upstanding citizen and are concerned with your car being street legal. Dont worry, they aren't gonna ticket you there for it unless they are a 100% complete a$$hole. This is also good because the local cops, who are the ones that will bve seeing your driving the most, are less likely to pull you over now that they've gotten to know a little about you and they see that your a good guy. I did this and it was definately a good move. That all i got for you. If i left something out or you have more questions please let me know.

Down here in sunny FL. they let you slide with 20% on the back and 1/4 glass. On the driver n passenger side 26% is the darkest they will allow. But if word gets around of anyone with a performance vehicle, They will find any reason to pull you over and hassle you.

ha, you guys are funny. I wasn't bitching, just making comments. Its been a year and a half since I took the 5% off and have not put any back on since. Like I said its a small town and the cops can also hear me pulling out of the driveway. It isn't the fact that its illegal and it sucks that it is illegal, its about keeping my good name in a small town and making sure that the cops here stay off my back in other matters. If I fight the ticket or get tint put back on, they are not likely going to help me if I get into any more trouble. Besides, my probation is up next month. Then maybe we'll see. Thanks for all the input. It has helped.
