Angry pulled over for window tint

Well I finally got pulled over for my window tiny earlier today. I have had 5% tint on my windows for over 2 years now, and today I get pulled over. Just a warning though, but I have until the end of the week to get it taken off or I pay 180 dollars. I'm not happy about this, my window tint looks sick on my car. I'm thinking of putting 35 % back on it, but that won't look as good, but it will have to do. State troopers SUCK.

oh believe me, I always said I would never take mine off either but this cop lives in my town and I'm pretty good friends with the sergeant (spelling?) and he told me I'd better take it off or he will give me another ticket seeing how its a small town and I'm pretty well known being the only girl with a bad ass cobra

i usually try my best to roll down the windows if i see an officer on the road. i've had 20% all the way around for about a year. USUALLY cops will not pull you over in CA just for the tinted windows. its usually a traffic ticket that turns into a traffic ticket + fix-it ticket (warning) for the tint.

hmmm. small town + one badass cobra = cops notice anything and everything

having it on for more than 2 years... i say give it about a month and put the 5% back on.

eh I'd rather not push my luck, although I love the 5%, I don't like paying tickets, getting pulled over in general and giving the damn court system any more of my hard earned money. so I think I'll just suck it up and put the 35 on and be done with it. however, I really want a 2004 cobra after this one is paid for in a little less than 2 years and then I may get 5% on THAT car, hehe.

Go 5 % on the back and quarter glass. Go legal on the side. It will give your side a darker look while staying within the limit of the law.

They are getting strict around here. Alot of places you go are now holding the sensor to test the amount of light that passes. I say screw that and I found someone who doesn't test it. The law on the other hand is a luck/unlucky situtation. Actually, the tint I have over my tag is darker than whats on the windows. If they have it out for you, they are going to get you no matter what. I met a trooper today running 12 over. He was driving a silver unmarked Charger. Today was a good day. No ticket.

I have a 99 GT and have two layers of tint all the way around. The first layer is 15% and a layer of 5% over that. If you do the math it comes out to be .75% and looks amazing. Ive been pulled over three time already in the year that ive had it. In those three meeting with the enemy i managed to pick up on some pretty good info.

1. If the enemy doesnt have a light transmittion meter he cannot give you a ticket. If he does anyways fight it and take a different car to the hearing.

2. You can get a note from your doctor stating that you are sensitive to the sun, especially if you have light colored eyes like my baby blues, because its a fact that light eyes actually are more susceptible to sun light.

3. You can one-up the doctors and get a legal form of exemption from the DMV. All it requires is two pages filled out by you, the first with the vehicles information and which windows are to be tinted; the second to be filled out by a doctor.

4. Get educated. Know the laws that your trying to get around. Local DMs usually only listen to what the enemy has to say because they dont know any better. If you learn your stuff you have a better chance of winning your appeal. There plenty of info on the web about laws regarding window glazing.

5. and finally, 99% of the time the enemy have no idea what the **** he is talking about. DO NOT be fooled by its flowery words and legal jargon. Ive heard claims from the enemy so ridiculous that you wouldnt believe them if i posted them.

All in all, if you want illegal tinting so be it, but don't whine and moan about the consequences and the repercussions brought about from having illegal tinting.
